Iokasti Mantzog

Known for Directing

Iokasti Manzog is a Greek-Pontian artist, activist, and witch from Berlin. In their practice, theu use artistic means such as movement, choreography, text, and video, attempting to create chaotic poetic spaces, often through feminine hyperbole and disturbing characters. Their work has been presented in Germany, Greece, Switzerland, and France, at venues such as Tanztheater Mainz, L'Usine, Tanzfabrik Bühne, Uferstudios, Theatre of Greek School of Arts, and others. They are interested in field research methodologies, in particular collecting various oral and bodily histories of marginalized groups (human and non-human) to create counter-memory choreographies and other imaginary worlds. Currently, in their artistic process, they are inquiringly exploring states of urgency, transformative queer practices, compasses of dreams through the collective unknown, and mournful lullabies.
