Recounts the discovery of the Red Queen on June 1, 1994 and new findings on the dynastic history of Palenque society. The Red Queen had a high status and must play a key role in the royal lineage, by the fact of having been interred in the near the Temple of Inscriptions, where the tomb of King Pakal was found complex. It was enshrouded with cinnabar, a red and heavy mineral composed of mercury, hence its name.
