By giving an insight into the moderators’ fight for better working conditions, their ongoing lawsuit against Meta in the city, and the Kenyan youth’s use of the internet to organize protests and independent news channels, After The Abyss becomes an audiovisual meditation on how technology and the internet both exploit and connect the entire city of Nairobi.
